Ok, I don't mean to be a dick but...
I don't mean to be a dick. This is an honest question. Is the reason why everyone is saying "oh I'm going to miss Carlin, he was so funny" because you can't say something bad about the dead?
I had already mourned the loss of Carlin when I went to go see him live in the last five years. His routine was completely unfunny. Then I saw his last HBO special. I went through the grieving of the loss of Carlin THEN.
